Aunty Jen Productions is a professional theatre company based in Studley in Warwickshire, between Redditch and Stratford-upon-Avon.
Aunty Jen Productions is a direct legacy of the work of Studley Isolation Support Group, a volunteer group set up to respond to the needs of our community during Covid-19 Lockdown.
Professional actress and director, Jennifer Rigby, created the character of Aunty Jen to bring to life stories and comedy monologues filmed in her garden shed to keep both young and old entertained.
After 107 days and 182 individual posts Jen closed the door on her Story-shack to contemplate how to entertain a community emerging from Lockdown.
At the same time, the founders of SISG were considering the legacy of the volunteer group. Happily these two things collided and Aunty Jen Productions was created!
As soon as the Government announced its plan to re-open theatres the company leapt into action. In 3 weeks, and with a budget of just £500, we pulled together a professional production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ performed outdoors on the back of a 45ft truck!
With the support of local businesses, the Parish Council and a HUGE team of volunteers, the event was an resounding success.
“Thank you for last night’s production, it was great fun and so creatively staged! Aunty Jen Productions have managed to exemplify everything about community and theatre in a trailer on a sports field !! Such talent and such an achievement.”
“I have never seen a Shakespeare play before and wouldn’t have ever seen one, but because it was local I thought that I would come along. I absolutely loved every moment. I never thought that I would laugh as much as I did. This has opened up my eyes to trying new theatre performances in the future”.
“Having seen Shakespeare productions at The Globe in London, at the RSC, at the Minack in Cornwall, and many, many, many other productions in the West End and theatres throughout the UK, I have to say that I was absolutely blown away by the quality of this production. The atmosphere was incredible, just as moving as being squashed in the pit of The Globe, you felt like you were on the stage and part of the production, it was so immersive. Absolutely outstanding, I can’t wait to see what the cast do next. To have this in walking distance of our home is incredible”.

Since then we finally performed our Arts Council funded pantomime ‘Sleeping Beauty’ during May Half Term 2021 and our production of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ ran with huge success in June and July 2021.
Our aim is to create a community-led professional company, breathing life into the heart of the village by working with local venues and businesses. We’d love to hear from you! If you are interested in joining the company as a volunteer, or are a local business with ideas on how we can work together, please get in touch.
